Oh oh oh! Yay! Equal opportunity time!!! Though... you'll have to wait for my list. The grading period ends Monday and I'm buried under a mountain of papers to grade and grades to average and IEP reports to fill out. *sigh* Now I know why teaching special ed is so hard... it's not the kids... it's all the bloody paper work.Anyway, good list Michelle! I'll get mine up as soon as I can. (But... how could you have not included Lain!?!?!) ^_^

Since we've done a list of our favorite bishounen and being the equal opportunity otaku that I am, I've decided to do a list of our favorite female anime characters. Besides, I also promised Caroline the opportunity to drool over female anime characters as well as male. . . So, here are my favorites.1. Kirisawa Fuuko, Flame of Recca -- She's the only female I've ever seen in a fighting anime who not only fights but wins. Plus, she can take a lot of punishment.
2. Sarasa, Legend of Basara -- While few people probably know about this series, Sarasa is an awesome character. If you want to know more, go to the website I'm working on: Star Crossed.
3. Utena, Shoujo Kakume Utena -- Does anyone need to know why?
4. Kurata Sana, Kodomo no Omocha -- She manages to hide a huge amount of depth behind an ever-cheerful facade. Plus, I was as hyperactive as she was growing up so I empathize with her.
5. Kinomoto Sakura, Card Captor Sakura -- I have no logical explination other than she's an adorable kid.
6. Tomoe Hotaru, Sailor Moon -- She's incredibly determined and willing to give her life if necessary. While most people would have died after being taken over by Mistress 9, she managed to stay alive, fight and eventually win.
7. Ten'ou Haruka, Sailor Moon -- Basically the same reasons as below.
8. Juri, Shoujo Kakume Utena -- I adore characters that appear to be strong and unemotional on the outside and yet are vulnerable. Juri is great because she's one of the few female anime characters who does this; it tends to be a stereotypical male anime character trait. Plus, she's great at fencing.
9. Maron Kusakabe, Kamikazie Kaitou Jeanne -- She manages to be strong, yet vulnerable at the same time.
10. Miyazawa Yukino, Kareshi Kanojo No Jijou -- I love how she fully admits to her acting a part and then realizes that life isn't nearly as fun when you're not being yourself.Honorable mentions: Ayanami Rei, Neon Genisis Evangelion (I don't know why. I just do.) and Makino Tsukushi, Hana Yori Dango.

Yes, conversation has been lacking lately...sorry.Speaking of X . . . I showed the X movie to my anime club last Friday. I warned them before it started they might want some prozac at the end. Everyone was very .... confused at the end. After the end our treasurer (guy) said, "I know this is shonen but . . ." and then our secretary (guy), who knew it was done by CLAMP goes "No, this is shoujo." The treasurer then says, "What the hell? This didn't look like magical girls to me."
Why do guys think that females don't watch anything that has blood and violence in it? Granted, I do really like magical girls anime, but that doesn't mean I dislike blood and violence. Chances are I'll watch Die Hard XX before I'll watch the latest, greatest romance movie. As for anime, Evangelion is one of the more bloody series out there and I happen to think it's one of the best anime series created (although I think Lain is better).
The two anime movies that I've seen and disliked because of the violence were Ninja Scroll and Biohunters (by the same director). Honestly, the reason why I didn't like those was for the gratuitous violence against women rather than pure violence. I also didn't think much of the plots . . . But really, most violence doesn't bother me. I won't reject something because of one element. It has to be a combination of factors.
So guys, believe it or not guys, women actually do watch anime that contains fighting.
